Route planner
Plan a passage on the chart before you cast off. Drop a waypoint at every turn, and Naucodex draws the route between them, computes the total distance, and tells you the bearing and length of each leg.
What it does
- Lets you plan a multi-leg route by tapping waypoints on a marine chart.
- Draws a clean line between waypoints and shows the bearing and distance of each leg.
- Sums the total distance of the route, so you know roughly how long the passage will take.
- Attaches the planned route to a voyage, so the dashboard can show planned versus actual track.
- Lets you reorder, insert and delete waypoints by dragging — the route updates in real time.
How to use it
- Open the voyage you are planning (or start a new one).
- Tap Plan route.
- Pan and zoom the chart to your area, then tap to drop the first waypoint at your departure port.
- Tap again at the next turn, the next, and so on, until you reach the arrival port.
- Drag any waypoint to move it. Tap a waypoint to delete or insert one before it.
- Tap Save route. The total distance now appears on the voyage card, and the planned line is visible on the chart.
Frequently asked
Does Naucodex know about hazards or shallows?
Not yet. The route planner draws straight lines between the points you choose — it does not check for land, depth, or restricted areas. Always cross-check your route against a proper navigation chart.
Can I edit the route mid-voyage?
Yes. Open the voyage and tap Plan route again. Add, move or delete waypoints. The distance and the planned line refresh straight away.
